How to Contact 1st Methlick Scout Group

What is an Explorer Scout?

Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old and make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family. There are many types of Explorer Scout Units, ours is linked to the Scout Group, others may be based around different activities but we are responsible to the District. Explorer Scouts get the chance to work with others in the District, not just the Unit. By doing this, they will get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones the Unit organizes.

What do Explorer Scouts wear?

Explorers wear, dependant on the type of activity they are involved in, either a beige smart shirt, a pair of activity trousers and their Unit scarf or just activity wear.  A Scout joining the Explorer Scout Section, who has gained his or her Chief Scout Gold Award, may wear that award on their uniform until he or she gains the Chief Scout Platinum Award.

What do Explorer Scouts do?

The Explorer Scouts programme offers a balanced range of activities covering the outdoors; skills; physical recreation; community service; environment; international; values and relationships. To support the programme there are a range of badges and awards for the Explorer Scout: the Chief Scout's Platinum, Diamond and Queen Scout Awards also the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards and Explorer Belt. They can also become Young Leaders and assist at Beaver, Cub or Scout meetings.
